About Liberia

Republic of Liberia was founded in 1847 by freed American slaves. The mottto was  "The love of liberty brought us here".
In 1989 a 14-year civil war started, a cruel war that affected every Liberian, and in 2014 Liberia was hit by ebola. The country has a population slightly above 4 million. In Liberia there are many tribes with different tribal languages​​. Official language is English. Today the country is under construction and had two democratic elections. Liberia was proud to have  Africa's first female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. who is also a Noble prize winner. In the election 2017 Senator George Weah was elected to be the next president of Liberia
